Shenpen believes that every child in Nepal has the right to attend school and receive a quality education. Our goal is to provide educational opportunities for underprivileged children in Nepal.
Shenpen recognizes that although steady progress has been made in recent years, much work remains to ensure all Nepali children can attend school and receive a quality education. Unfortunately, even when available, the quality of public education in Nepal remains very low.
In response to the Nepali government’s inability to deliver a public education system that meets the needs of all children, a large number of private schools have opened in the last two decades, both in the Kathmandu Valley and across Nepal. This rapid increase in private schools places significant stress on the educational system and the ability of individual families to afford education for their children.
Shenpen acknowledges that a good quality education not only provides a brighter future for children and families but also for Nepal as a whole. That is why we work with underprivileged Nepali families to help them educate their children. We do this in three ways:
- Sponsoring the education of individual children
- Providing hot meals in school each day
- Distributing stationery supplies
