The number of stray dogs and cats in the Kathmandu Valley is steadily increasing. These animals are often abandoned by families unable to care for the offspring of their pets or are themselves the offspring of existing street animals.
Shenpen believes that providing proper medical care to animals sets a positive example for caring for this significant segment of society. One of our main initiatives has been offering rabies vaccinations to stray dogs in the Bungamati, Boudhanath, and Kopan areas of the Kathmandu Valley. By combining rabies vaccinations with in-school dog awareness campaigns, we aim to protect young children in Nepal from the threat of rabid dog bites. We hope to expand our anti-rabies vaccination project to more areas of Kathmandu, increasing awareness about animal care.
Our goal is to serve as an exemplary role model in the compassionate and responsible care of street dogs.
